Salvia Victoria
Common Name: Salvia Victoria
Scientific Name: Salvia Farinacea 'Victoria'
Exposure: Full Sun-Part Shade
Size:
Bloom Color: Lavender - Blue
Time: Spring, Summer, Fall
Notes: This plant takes several years to become truly attractive. Planted as a 1 gallon, it tends to just sit there the first year, very spindly with a few leaves and flowers on top of bare stems. It seems to prefer some afternoon shade, but won't do much in full shade. I've seen one 3' tall, but after that first year in the ground we usually cut ours back by about 1/2 to get some fullness and keep them shorter. They have a beautiful blue flower and bloom mid spring through fall. They prefer a light application of a complete, balanced, slow- release fertilizer and will droop quickly if they become dry.

Society Garlic
Common Name: Society Garlic
Scientific Name: Tulbaghia Violacea
Exposure: Full Sun-Part Shade
Size: 2'
Bloom Color: Lilac - Violet
Time: Spring, Summer, Fall
Notes: We use this plant close to rose beds or any other insect prone area. The smell is supposed to help keep the insects away. For this reason, they stink and so we never put them close to paths, sidewalks, seating or play areas. They have a pinky lavender bloom and they bloom for months. They are great as long as you don't get too close! The foliage is 12-15" tall with the flower heads standing several inches above.
