Here in Houston, we like our plants Texas-tough; but they still have to be beautiful! Bulbs such as Leucojum, also known as Summer Snowflake, are a tough and water-wise solution for creating an easy-care yet lush landscape. While it can be tough to successfully grow Lily of the Valley in our climate, Summer Snowflake is a great alternative. The flowers resemble those of Lily of the Valley, but these bulbs are hardy, heat tolerant and deer resistant. They’ll also tolerate some shade. The Liriope-like foliage grows to about 12-15” tall with many spikes of white flowers in spring.
Plant these perennial bulbs in your landscape now amongst roses and ornamental grasses. Or, plant in naturalized areas under partially shady trees. You can also plant into patio containers. Early next spring, plants will delight you with their snow white, graceful, bell-like blooms that rise above the bright green, grassy foliage.
We love to plant bulbs in your landscape! We’ll plant them among your perennials and annuals in a way that looks natural and graceful. Call us today to be added to our schedule.
